Ivanhoe Cycling Club

Conisbrough Ivanhoe C.C ‘s run to Southwell last Sunday was again well supported, 36 members including K. Firth, back from a months tour on the continent, and R. Longley, back from a tour of Ireland, completing the run.

Tea was taken at Blyth W. Livesley competing in a local 25 mile T. T. Clocked 1-6-6. Ending the track racing season in greyscale was M Beevers who in the final sports, meeting of the season at Duckmanton completed a winning “hat-trick”, a feat performed by no other centre rider for the past two seasons. He won their 440, 660 and 880 yards handicapped events. A fine finish to a successful season!

The clubs 880 yards and 5 miles track events were decided on the Yorkshire Main welfare track last Tuesday. In the 880 yards event Mr. Beevers won from D. Watson with R. D. Adams third. In the 5 miles event B. Watson beat M. Jones with S. Oldfield in third place. W. Lives late one the lap award.

At last Monday’s meeting in the clubroom. Secretary R. Longley said membership of the club was now 83 only four short of 1952’s record membership.

Next Sunday the club will hold the reliability ride of 100 miles in seven hours. This event will start promptly from the clubroom at 9.0 a.m. and tea will be taken at Bylth.
