Jailed for Attack in Denaby Club.

After a disagreement at a Denaby club, Brian Scott (26) shattered a heavy pint glass over the head of a committee member, aged 57, then pushed the broken glass into his face, causing further injuries, Detective Chief Inspector T.H.Hayton told Doncaster West Riding magistrates on Monday when Scott, unemployed, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Sam Kelly.

He was jailed for three months. Kelly had switched off a number of light at the Comrades Club, Denaby, when he was a committee member. Scott had objected, but had let the matter drop.

Scott later beckoned to Mr Kelly, who thought he was about to apologise. Instead, Scott picked up a heavy pint glass and shattered it over his head. Then he pushed the jagged edge of the glass into his face.

Mr Kelly was taken to hospital, where several stitches were inserted in his face, he said.

Scott was alleged to have told police after the incident, “I did him in with the glass. I just felt like it, I was not provoked.”
