Powerless in Second Half.
Denaby United 0 , Alfreton Town 6
Judging by their last two performances, that win against Sutton doesn’t seem to have done Denaby United any good at all. They were back to their old ways again on Saturday in the home Midland League match with Alfreton town – unable to score.
Up to half-time, when they were 2-0 down, they were still in the game with – judging by their first half performance – a reasonable chance, but for the second 45 minutes they hardly got out of their own half as Alfreton kept them pinned down.
Denaby had matched the visitors for approach work and football – not for finishing – in the first half, but after the break they were no match.
Denaby struggled to get out of a defensive rut, but with in skull injured their second-half efforts made little impression on all fitted, who hammered home their superiority 5 minutes from the end with two goals in a minute.
