Frickley Colliery 221 for 9 Denaby & Cadeby  95 for 1

Although Frickley ran up a big total of 221 for nine declared, Denaby made a good reply for they scored 95 for the loss of one wicket before the game closed

Had it not been for Frickley’s opening pair, Newton and Smith, the total might not have reached the century Mark.

The opening partnership realised 96 in the second wicket define. Newton’s contribution was 100, including 14 fours and Smith, 41. For Denaby Clayton had three for 39 and Williams two for 34.

It was evident that Denaby would have to force the pace to get the necessary runs in the time at their disposal, and their opening pair, Westlake and Pinkey, adopted that policy, putting on 75, of which Westlake scored 58. 20 runs later the game ended.
