Kenneth Bateson.
The outstanding individual feat of the week, though it was achieved in junior cricket, is Bateson’s 10 wickets for 27 runs on the Aldwarke ground.
It is the first time on record that a Conisboro’ club player has brought off the feat.
Bateson appears to be unable to settle down anywhere but at Conisboro’: he his been away from the club for three seasons, but he is back again. He is still a young player, but apparently he would take a good deal of tempting away. He is a right-arm bowler of considerable pace and a very useful man for a club in the Second Division of the Doncaster League to have in the side.
The quality of his bowling last Saturday may be judged from the statement that he got seven of his wickets by hitting the stumps.
