Lightening Strike

The lightening strike which occurred at the Glass Bottle Works of Messrs Kilner Bros on Friday had an equally swift settlement the same evening. The works were thrown idle when trouble arose amongst the girl employees, of whom there are about 400.

Later boys employed at work became involved and during the day they were three mass meeting of employees numbering over 600, who sent two deputation to the management before a settlement was reached.

The striker’s case was conducted by Mr R.M.Stevenson, of Doncaster, organiser of the National Union of General and Municipal Workers. He accompanied the deputation of seven who held a conference with official of the firm which lasted almost 3 hours. It is understood that the issue over details of administration.

A satisfactory agreement concern was arrived at, but other alleged grievances are not yet been dealt with and will be discussed later. The workers representatives reported the results of the discussion to a mass meeting, and it was unanimously decided to resume work on the following day
