Denaby
Accident.
John Bailey (nine) schoolboy, The Crescent, Conanby, was admitted to the Fullerton hospital, Denaby, on Wednesday evening, suffering from a fractured leg. While playing with other boys in Wellgate, Conisborough, he fell while sliding down the sloping roof of the ancient, disused well.
Irish Trip
To mark St Patrick’s Day an all Irish concert, described as “a Trip to Ireland,” was presented in St Alban’s club on Tuesday by the C.Y.M.S. Concert Party. The novel programme of choruses, songs and concerted items received the warm approval of the many Irish people who filled the club, and the players, Messrs. J. Brennan J. Conway, J. Dolly, T. Dolly, J. Fitzwilliam. J. Littlewood and P. Mannington, deserved the thanks accorded them by father J. HalohaN, parish priest. The proceedings concluded with a short dance in which Irish half-sets figured.
Conisborough
Attack of Malaria
An attack of malaria, the result of war service, confined the vicar the Rev. W. J. T. Pascoe, to bed last week. He was feeling well enough to resume duties on Sunday, and is taking things easy this week as he had not yet fully recovered. Mr Pascoe was a chaplain to the forces. Conisborough is pleased to see him about again for he has cheery words for all.
Lorry Amok
Descending Clifton Hill on Thursday, a heavy motor, lorry, laden with gravel, swerved to avoid another heavy vehicle which was turning in Brook Square. It ran down old hill and crashed into the brook bridge. Happily, the driver, William Edward Wraith, Low Road, Balby, was uninjured, but much damage was done to the lorry and to the wooden footbridge. Had the incident happened a few minutes earlier there might have been much more damage, as Mr CE Webster had only just removed his car which would have been in the lorries track.
