Lucifer Matches

Robert William Sage, a youth, was summoned for a contravention of the Mines Rules and Regulation Act by taking matches down Denaby Main Colliery on the 1st inst.

John Cope deposed to searching defendant, and finding Lucifer matches in his vest pocket.

Defendant admitted the offence, but could not be persuaded to say anything in extenuation of his offence, and was fined five shillings or 10 days imprisonment.
