Conisborough Man Charged With Desertion.
Emmerson Hilland, miner, formerly of Conisborough, was charged at Doncaster on Tuesday with leaving his wife and child chargeable to the Doncaster Union
He said that with the consent of his wife he tramped to the Kentish coalfields looking for work. The wife, however, alleged that he deserted her. Hilland was remanded until next Wednesday.
Mr. E. Robinson, relieving officer, said the ‘wife applied for relief for herself and nine-years-aid child on May 4. She said her husband went away on April 23rd, without saying where he was going.
Relief was granted to the extent of £3 6s. 4d. and the arrest of the prisoner had cost £4 13s 10d.
