South Yorkshire Times, March 21.

Change in tactics cost them points.

Lockheed Leamington 4 Denaby United 0

It was right up to half-time, when, Denaby’s five men in a line had kept out the Lockheed Leamington forwards in this Midland League match at Leamington, and they looked to have a chance of taking or sharing in the points, but the second half brought disaster.

Denaby switched to the 4-2-4 system and Lockheed keeping their feet better on the mudbath, which masqueraded as a football field, hit four goals in a period of tremendous pressure.

The conditions were atrocious. Having to play in ankle-deep mud and water was bad enough, but in the driving rain. It became something of an endurance test – to which Lockheed stood up better.
