The output of British coal for the week ended July 23rd was 3,462,300 tons, compared with 3,502,100 tons in the previous week, and the number of wage earners was 788,300, compared with 786,200.

Mr. A. T. Thomson, managing director of the Manvers Main Collieries, has been elected president of the newly-formed River Derwent Protection Society, an association of house-boat owners.

The Council of the Yorkshire Miners’ Association announced on Saturday that owing mainly to trade depression 31,326 claims for redaction of contributions had been made, and 837 individual claims for unemployment benefit for boys under 16 ½ .
