Mrs Kaye, headmistress of the Old Denaby Church School, has just completed her term of service in the Church and County Council, having reached the age of 65.

The annual meeting of the hospital, Mexborough will be held on Friday, February 28th 7 p.m.

The Mexborough Urban District Council are preparing to carry out a new sewerage disposal scheme, estimated to cost  £7,370.

It is understood that there will he nearly fifty candidates for the Conisbrough Parish Council at this year’s parish meeting.

Several petitions against the Railless Traction (Mexborough and Swinton) have been deposited in the House of Commons this week.

The Mexborough Orpheus Glee Singers are repeating their programme of hymns and hymn anthems at the Thurnscoe Parish Church on Sunday.

A good deal of damage was done at various points of the district last weekend by the severe gale which raged through Friday and the early hours of Saturday.

The Coronation silver cup, given by Mrs Godfrey Walker for annual competition amongst local schoolchildren, has been won by Master George Trow, Denaby Main.

Alderman Watson, of Mexborough, although due for re-election, is not going to the poll, and it is anticipated that he will be re-elected Alderman by the County Council without going before the electors.

The accounts of the Mexborough as Swinton Gas Board for the period ending March 31 last, showed gross income from sales of gas, public lighting, sailed of residuals, meeting friends, etc. of £5,741 7s.

The Kilnhurst youth, Hague, who was admitted to the Montagu Hospital, Mexborough, suffering from injuries sustained in the accidental discharge of the revolver, is still in a critical condition.

Mr John Baker, the well-known local miners leader and President of the Swinton Liberal Association, has undergone an operation in the Mexborough Montagu Hospital, and is making satisfactory progress.

There have been three drowning fatalities during the present week in the district, and several miners on their way to and from their work, have had narrow escapes owing to the dense fog which is prevailed for the greater part of the week.
