A new hotel is in course of erection at Goldthorpe

The new wing of the Mexborough Montagu Hospital will be opened on Thursday, June 15.

The “Times” Cup competition as the new some sensational cricket this Whitsuntide.

A Fire Brigade competition will take place on the Mexborough Leach on Feast Monday, June 19.

Viscount Halifax, who is at present in residence at Hickleton Hall, attained his 83rd birthday on Wednesday last.

There are numerous complaints from Kilnhurst that the recent concession of a Sunday postal dispatch has not been extended to that village.

Mexborough Council are endeavouring to economise in connection with the appointment of a new Clerk. The salary of Mr Hattersley, who retires at the end of the month was £420 and the council are advising for a successor at £200.

Elaborate arrangements are being made to hold a grand Show in Mexborough on Thursday, August 3. The promoters of the newly formed Mexborough and District Agricultural Society. The magnificent sum of £250 have been offered in prizes for classes in agriculture, horticulture and fanciers section, and there is also to be a big sports meeting in connection with the event. We are glad to learn that the project is meeting with liberal financial local support.
