The Mexborough Council are sending a deputation to the Conisborough Council to apply for the inclusion of Mexborough in the borough of Conisborough.

The management committee of the Montagu report that the mine-workers of the district are rapidly making up the arrears of their voluntary contributions.

Mr. W. Gillis, M.P.; says that it takes a hero to live in a land like this, and thinks that probably that is what the Prime Minister had in mind.

Publicity is the lever which moves business. The successful business man advertises his wares first, last and all the time— when trade is brisk and when trade is slack, but especially when it slack.

There is a pleasant notion at Bolton-on- Dearne to sell municipal beer in order to buy municipal parks, bowling greens, clinics and swimming baths If. We understand that the idea is being taken up with great enthusiasm, and that certain bibulous citizens see a glorious opportunity of rehabilitating themselves in the public esteem.

When the “Municipal Arms” is an accomplished fact they will be able to go home with a Falstaffian potation under their belts and an air of having carried out a public duty.

It will be generally understood that another little drink won’t do the parish any harm, but quite the contrary: and some of our most eminent topers will then know the virtuous glow which comes over a punctual and punctilious ratepayer.

The Mexborough Council are considering the possibility of dealing with the extreme congestion of traffic in the centre of the town by means of an avoiding road which will tare most of the through traffic out of High street.

The first of the Gilchrist lectures will be given to-night (Friday), at Wath-on- Dearne. The demand for seats lists been overwhelming and in order to avoid a crush at the last moment it has been decided to open the door of the hall at 7 o’clock. Ticket-holder are requested to take their seats early. The lecture will commence at 8 o’clock prompt.
