The glass-bottle trade at Mexboro’ is brightening up. Messrs. Barrons are now fully employed. At the Don Glass Works the new shop was started on Thursday.
A Mexboro’ gentleman has offered £1000 to the Mexboro’ Co-operative Society, towards enabling them to continue trading and so avoid a transfer.
A correspondent writes stating that forty co-operative societies fail in England yearly.
Conisboro’ is growing fast. A letter sent this week to a well-known resident in Co-operative terrace has been returned marked “not known.”
Rapid progress is being made with the erection of the new Wesleyan Chapel at Mexboro’.
Conscientious objectors please note! Of the two small-pox cases from Mexboro’, the patient who died last Friday had never been vaccinated. The other patient had been vaccinated and is now recovering.
Another case of small-pox was discovered on Wednesday night in Beaconsfield-street, Mexboro’.
The Rev. J. Gibson, of Mexboro’, along with Mrs. and Miss Gibson, sailed on Thursday in the Allan Line s.s. “Tunisian,” for Montreal, en route for Toronto. They are joining their sons, who last year went out to Canada and are doing very well.
