Jarvis Pearce, of Goldthorpe, was sentenced on Saturday to two months’ imprisonment for defrauding a friendly society.
Military Sunday at Darfield was kept up last Sunday. The township was literally invaded by the red-coated volunteers.

Mr. W. F. Lombard, junior, Brampton Bierlow, met with an accident on York Road, near Doncaster, yesterday week, fracturing his left arm.
Whilst drunk and disorderly, Joseph McKenzie, miner, Conisboro’, assaulted a constable and his escape cost him 36s. 6d. at the Doncaster Police Court on Tuesday.
An interesting case is down for decision at the Doncaster West Riding Police Court on Saturday, the defendant being the manager of one of the principal boot providers in Mexborough.
Flower services are announced to be held at Mexboro’ Congregational Church on Sunday morning, preacher Rev. T. Anderson, and evening, preacher Rev. C. Mathieson, of Rotherham.
On Thursday the members of the Mexboro’ Primitive Methodist choir had their annual outing, the place selected being Pontefract. Over 30 made the journey in waggonettes, provided by Mr. H. Chambers, of Bank Street.

For the six months commencing January to June of the year, the Mexboro’ district for the British Workman’s Assurance Company have succeeded in taking the initial position for new ordinary branch premium income, for the whole of the Company, out of about 400 districts.
