Matches Into The Denaby Pit.
Thomas Cape, collier, of Mexborough, was fined 10s and costs at Rotherham West Riding Police Court this morning for having taken a box of matches into the Denaby pit on the 9th inst. contrary to the special rules.
Defendant’s explanation was that he had had the box of matches in use the cellar of his house, and had afterwards inadvertently placed them in his pocket.
