Measles and Water Supply
At a recent meeting of the Doncaster Rural Sanitary Authority, the Medical Officer reported that several cases of measles had occurred at Braithwell, resulting in the closure of the school there. He also reported that at the present time there were many similar cases at Denaby Colliery and at Rossington, and that the school at Rossington had likewise been closed.
The Medical Officer further stated that the water supply in two or three villages he had named was unsatisfactory, and that in other places the supply was insufficient.
It was ordered that immediate steps should be taken to secure a proper and wholesome water supply. The owners of property in the villages concerned were to be communicated with so that the authority might avoid having to use the compulsory powers granted under the Public Health (Water) Act of 1878.
