Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 21 June 1878
Medd v. Denaby Main Colliery Company.
Mr. Bescoby appeared for the plaintiff, and N. F. Nicholson for the defendants.
Plaintiff claimed £13 17s. 3d. for house rent and clothing. He stated that some time ago he engaged with Mr. Parker, the late manager of the company, to act as watchman at 25s. per week, and to have house rent and coal, and clothing free. None of the latter had been supplied, though repeatedly asked for, and in March last the plaintiff was discharged.
The defence was that he alleged agreement had been an after thought, when Parker had gone.
Defendant was nonsuited.
