Meeting of the Denaby Main Miners

Last night a largely attended meeting of the Denaby Main miners was held in the lodgeroom. Masons’ Arms Inn, Mexbro’.

The Chairman said that he supposed they had assembled for the purpose of carrying out the resolutions of their Federation in handing in their notices for the further advance of 10 per. cent, in their wages.

A Miner said that he hoped wise counsels would prevail, and that an amicable settlement, of the question would be arrived at prior to the tools being brought out. He believed if they were entitled to the advantage in having it, if not be would willingly abide as he was.

The notices were then distributed to the whole of the workmen, numbering, 1400 to terminate on the 15th prox., in accordance with the resolution of the Miners’ Federation.
