“Kicked Out” Allegation
Member Leaves Old Folk’s Welfare Committee Meeting

“You are kicking me out. You will not hear what I have to say, so I will say good afternoon to you.”

With these words, a former member of the Conisbrough and Denaby Main Old People’s Welfare Committee left the meeting at Conisbrough Council Offices on Wednesday.

The man who left within a few minutes of the start of the meeting was Mr. J. Scott, who resigned as chairman of the Denaby Darby and Joan Club five weeks ago.

Mr. Scott was classed as a “member of the public” at the meeting, and the public, it was decided, should not be entitled to attend the meetings.

It was reported that from June 29th to September 23rd, 62 free meals were provided for old people, as recommended by the Medical Officer. Fifty-one of these were served to Conisbrough residents, and eleven in Denaby Main. The total since February, 1959, is 417 meals, at a cost of £52 2s. 6d.

Mrs. A. Jenkinson, Denaby W.V.S. organiser, was appointed to the Conisbrough Road and Home Safety Committee.

Donations received were £5 from the Cadeby Main Branch of the National Union of Mineworkers, and £20 10s. from workmen of the Mitchell Construction Co., Ltd.
