Mexborough’s Good Eastertide.

Mexborough Town  1  Mansfield Town  1

Drawing 1-1 home with Mansfield Town yesterday, Mexborough completed their four Eastertide matches without defeat, their two victories and two draws earning them six points out a possible eight.

Mexborough were the better team on the first half and deserved their interval load. Smith having scored. Subsequently, Mansfield made good recovery, and Goddard equalised.

Wilson almost snatched victory for Mexborough in the last minute, when struck post with great cross-drive.

Staples, While, and Poyser were good defenders for Mansfield. For the home side. Wilson was prominent in attack, and the halves and backs were resourceful workers.

Denaby United  0  Frickley Colliery  0

Denaby United and Frickley Colliery failed to score in the return game at Denaby.

The Frickley goal bore a charmed life. Centres galore went across which the Denaby forwards failed to utilise. Despite this a good number of shots were on the mark, but if Capstick was not there, another defender was.

Denaby pressed almost continuously, while Frickley made spasmodic raids. Meads (Frickley) nearly put through his own goal in the closing stages.

Loughborough Corinthians and Lincoln City Reserves drew 1-1 in a very fast game at Loughborough. Lincoln included Dinsdale, Maidment, and Pegg, who have played for the first eleven regularly this season, and all of them did very well. The honours, however, went to the defence, who played a sound game against the dashing Loughborough forwards. Meeson, in goal, brought off some good saves. Both the Lincoln backs, Ives and Bumicle, broke up many of the Loughborough attacks. Harris scored for Loughborough and Dinsdale for Lincoln.

Bradford Reserves beat Newark Town 3-2 at Bradford. Douglas and Harwood (two) scored for Bradford, Roseboom and Hall replying for Newark.
