Miners’ Quarrel at Denaby

Two miners named Morrel Norman and George Bradbury, of Denaby, were charged with having assaulted Thomas Turner, of Denaby, on the 10th inst.

Complainant stated that defendant visited his lodgings on the day named and made use of the most filthy language. He asked them to leave the house, whereupon they knocked him off the sofa and began to kick him. They were wearing clogs at the time.

Police constable Midgley said the complainant sent for him on the day named, but he was not at home. Witness afterwards visited Turner’s house and saw his face was cut, bruised and bleeding.

The magistrates fined defendants 20s and costs each.
