Mining Success
Mr. Norman Middleton Bell (28), elder son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Bell, of Felstone, Minneymoor Lane, has been successful in obtaining his first Class Colliery manager’s Certificate.
Mr. Bell, whose father is a collier at Denaby Main Colliery, is on the underground staff at the same pit, where he has been employed since he was 19.
Mr. Bell, a keen cyclist and prize winner, formerly with the Conisbrough Ivanhoe Cycling Club and now a member of the Doncaster Wheelers Club, was educated at Morley Place School, from which he won a County Minor scholarship to Mexborough Secondary School at the age of 10.
He gained his under-manager’s certificate two years ago and has studied for his latest success at the Schofield Technical College, Mexborough.
