More Youngsters for Denaby.

Denaby’s team will be ideal for one next season for they are continuing in their policy of signing on young and promising players.

The latest edition to their list are Charles L. Finney. Back of halfback from Goldthorpe United, Stephen Claypool, goalkeeper of Whinney Hill Saint Peters; and G. R. Burton, an amateur back from Conisbrough welfare.

Finney (picture) is probably the most interesting of the acquisitions and his promise has been apparent from some time to a good many clubs. He is a brother of the well-known Bury halfback and he had four games with the Bury Central league team last season. Several other big clubs also had their eyes on him, and as he is still only 21, he has plenty of time to make a really first class player.

His height is 5’9″ and his weight 12 stone.

Claypole’s form last season drew a good deal of attention when he was playing in Rotherham junior league competition, and he will probably be Denaby’s regular Midland league goalkeeper next season.

Extensive improvements to the Denaby ground are being made in readiness for the next league campaign and there is every possibility of a stand being erected on the top side of the field. Mr. J. Hobson the new groundsman, has taken over his duties in recognition of his many years of faithful service mister.

Tom Hill has been honored by the club by the conferment of an honorary life membership.
