Motor Smash
On Saturday, Mr William Henry Wilson, a well-known teacher of music, went with his brother-in-law, Mr Albert G Pointing, to Leeds on business, making the journey in a car of Mr Pointing.
All went well until about 5 miles from Doncaster, on the return journey, when they were involved in the collision with another car, near to the Red House, on the Great North Road. The two cars were proceeding in opposite directions, and the drivers could not see each other in time to avoid a crash, as an incline over the bridge prevents drivers seeing the other side.
The cars became entangled and Mr Pointing’s car, the smaller of the two, was driven back towards the hedge. The occupant of the larger car which was driven by a chauffeur, was Mrs Poweles of Crieff near Perth, and she was able to resume her journey after having received first aid.
Mr Pointing was scratched and bruised, and had his clothes torn, but after been attended to was able to proceed to Conisborough to inform Mrs Wilson of the accident.
Mr Wilson, came off the worst, been badly bruised, having his thumb fractured, and in addition he suffers rather severely from the shock, his injuries necessitating his removal to the Doncaster infirmary.
Our latest information is that Mr Wilson is progressing as favourably as could be expected.
