Moving Back to their Homes

April 1903

Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 03 April 1903

The villages of Denaby and New Conisborough which were partially depopulated in the ever memorable eviction week, are fast becoming re-inhabited, large numbers of families having moved back to their old homes since the conclusion of the strike.

Those men who have not yet been signed on by the Colliery Company view the furniture removals with mixed feelings, and a longing for all doubts to be set at rest as to whether they will be allowed to go back again are not.

In all probability the unemployed next week will march to Sheffield, and thereby try to create public sympathy and raise financial assistance, which is fast becoming an absolute necessity.
