Mr S. Leonard – Conisbrough Foundry Expert
Widespread expressions of sympathy were forthcoming at the funeral at Conisbrough on Sunday, of Mr. Simeon Leonard (62), “Lencroft,” 53,Drakehead Lane, Conisbrough, a foundry expert, who died last Thursday after an illness lasting six months.
Mr. Leonard, who went to Conisbrough from Parkgate when he was 11, had lived in Conisbrough more than 50 years. He was foundry expert for Boston Marine Co. Ltd., and during the first-world war served in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment and was a member of the A.R.P. in the last war.
Over a number of years he had built up a successful foundry works in Sheffield Road, Conisbrough, and was highly respected in local business circles.
Among his many interests was a lifelong association with cycling, and for many years he had been president of ‘Denaby Wheelers Cycling Club.
He leaves a widow, four daughters and one son, Mr. W. Leonard, who is carrying on the business.
