Musical Performance.

On Tuesday evening last a sacred cantata entitled, “The Angel of the Harvest,” was rendered in the Wesleyan Chapel before a large and appreciative audience. The opening ceremonies were performed by the Rev. Thomas Barr, resident minister, and the reading given by Mr. Geo. Appleyard.

The march “Triumphant” was given by the band previous to the cantata. There was an excellent choir of over 50 voices. Organist, Miss Sharp; conductor, Mr. J. K. Bateson.

The part singers were: Misses Blakeley, Bateson, Nicholson, and Rose, Messrs. Rawding and Armitage. Miss Blakeley, Miss Rose, Mr. J. A. Bateson and Mr. C. W. Bateson took part in the first quartette, and Miss Bateson, Miss Nicholson, Mr. J. H. Armitage, and Mr. P. Armitage in the second.

Votes of thanks were proposed by the Rev. T. Barr. The collection amounted to nearly £5, which is to be devoted to the circuit expenses.

A march from “Christ and His Soldiers” was given at the close.
