New Council Chairman.

Last year vice-chairman, Coun. G. Cheshire. Conan Road, was on Wednesday elected chairman of the Urban Council.

Mr. Cheshire, a native of Denaby, has represented the North Ward since 1941 and was a successful candidate at last month’s elections.

He has been a Labour Party member for many years and chairman of Mexborough Trades Council for the past five years.

Manager of Denaby Main Industrial Co-operative Society’s Old Road branch. Coun. Cheshire is Labour group secretary for No 18 Divisional Education Executive and a member of Conisbrough Primary School Managers and Mexborough and District Secondary Schools Combined Body of Governors.
