New Denaby Main Vicar

The Rev. A. V. Roebuck, curate of Rossington, near Doncaster, has accepted the living of Denaby Main offered to him by the Bishop of Sheffield.

Mr. Roebuck has been in charge of the church in the new village of Rossington for 61 years and will come with experience of a mining community. Mr. and Mrs. Roebuck have organised a Sunday School which now has 300 members and also run a Youth Fellowship. They have been popular with the residents of Rossington, who received the news on Sunday that Mr. Roebuck had accepted the living of Denaby Main.

This will be Mr. Roebuck’s first vicariate. Prior to taking up work In the Ministry, Mr. Roebuck was engaged in secular work but took a keen interest In the work of the Church.

Later he studied at Lichfield Theological College and after ordination was licensed a curate to the Parish of Rossington.

During the last interregnum at Denaby Main he officiated on several occasions and also attended the induction of the Rev. M. Clarke.
