No Control At Denaby Main

Joseph Lumley, a butcher, of Conisboro’, was summoned for leaving his horse unattended on the highway, thereby it being not under his control.

Defendant did not appear.

P.C. Ransom stated that at 10.20 p.m. on Saturday, the 16th inst., he was on duty in Doncaster Road, Denaby, in company with P.C. Richardson, when they saw a horse and van standing on the highway without anyone in charge. Witness watched it for 25 minutes, and then the defendant came out of a house opposite. He asked him why he had left the horse unattended, and defendant said he had not been away from it above ten minutes.

P.C. Richardson gave corroborative evidence.

Defendant was fined 10s. and costs.
