Conisbrough Hospital Board Windfall

Mexborough and Conisbrough ratepayers are among the ratepayers in the constituent area of the Doncaster and Mexborough Joint Hospital Board who will benefit from a windfall arising out of a decision by the Board at Conisbrough Isolation Hospital on Wednesday not to levy Common Fund precept for the ensuing half-year.

Last Precepts

County Coun. B. Roberts, J P (Conisbrough), chairman, presided

Last half-year the following precepts were levied: Doncaster Rural Council £612, Mexborough Urban Council £363, Bentley Urban Council £317, Adwick-le-Street Urban Council £295, and Conisbrough Urban Council £386.

On Wednesday Mr Roy Bowers (clerk) told the Board that he could reasonably suggest that the Board should not issue any Common Fund precepts for this half year.

The Board had a sufficient credit balance to carry on until March, but he might have to ask them for something to carry on from March until July 4th (when the hospital will be taken over under the National Health Service Act
