Notes from Conisborough.

Cadeby Colliery Sinking Apace

The Cadeby colliery sinking is creeping on apace. The water in the shafts being no longer an obstacle progress can be made by the sinkers very encouragingly. Some persons were saying lately that it would be three years before the coal is tapped.

But this is far too remote a guess, so events will prove. Meanwhile the buildings around the shafts are assuming a shape of almost completion, and further rails are being laid down for the engines and wagons.

The sidings when complete will be very extensive and the appearance of Conisborough, on this side of the Dearne, will be one of extraordinary activity shortly. Passengers to and fro on the M. S. and L. line look eagerly towards this “beehive,” and the go-a-headness of the Denaby Main Colliery Company is everywhere a subject of admiration.
