A large assembly of spectators witnessed the above match, which took place at Denaby. Neither side could claim any advantage at the outset, and the play was of a very interesting character.

About halfway through the half, however, Jones got through for the visitors, and although the home team tried hard to equalise before the interval they were unable to do so, and were one down when the teams crossed over.
