Obituary
Canon H. Lee
Former Conisbrough, Denaby Vicar

The funeral took place at Darsham Church, Saxmundham, Suffolk, on Wednesday, of Canon Harry Lee (65), an honorary Canon of Sheffield Cathedral and one-time curate of Mexborough and vicar of Denaby and Conisbrough, where he served from 1930 to 1931, and later Rector of Wickersley. Canon Lee died at Yoxford.
Mr. Lee, whose photograph here was taken during his Ministry in South Yorkshire, was ordained at York in 1910. He went to Mexborough in the same year as curate, first under Canon Bateman and then under the Rev. E. Hope. In 1919 he began a seven-years period as Vicar of Denaby Main and from there he went to Conisbrough, leaving in 1931 for St. Timothy’s, Crookes. In 1938 he became Rector of Wickersley and in 1947 accepted the living of Firbeck and Letwell. Later, for health reasons, he was obliged to forsake the district for Suffolk.
Mr. Lee married Miss Kathleen Guest, a member of an old and very well-known Mexborough family who for many years owned a boat-building yard in the town.
