Obituary – Charles Farrell

The death occurred at his home on Saturday, at the age of 71, of Mr. Charles Farrell, of Penrhyn, Doncaster Road, Conisbrough.

His death is a great loss to the St. John Ambulance movement in Denaby and Conisbrough to which he had given devoted service for many years.  He first joined the Conisbrough Brigade, but later transferred to the Denaby Brigade, and at the time of his death held the rank of Corps Officer.

He was in business for many years in Conisbrough as a master baker, and retired in 1929.

In his younger days he was keenly interested in athletics and had a reputation as a runner. He later attended many meetings as starter.  During the last war he held the rank of Lieutenant in the Home Defence Service.

The funeral took place at Conisbrough on Wednesday preceded by a service in the Parish Church.
