The death occurred last week-end of Mr. James Goose in his 45th year. He was a native of Conisbrough, and since 1922 had been chief clerk to Mr. H. Thirlwall, the Council Surveyor.
In a tribute to him, Mr. Thirlwall said. ” He was a man of great integrity, very painstaking in his work, and very careful in the execution of his duties. His passing is a great loss to me.”
He served In the last war and was anxious to take his share in the war effort and joined the Special Constabulary in 1938, doing useful work as a section leader.
The esteem in which he was held was reflected in the representative gathering at the funeral on Wednesday. The funeral was preceded by a service at the Wesleyan Chapel, conducted by one of his colleagues, Mr. R. J. Troughton, who made reference to his many sterling qualities.
