Objections to ‘Bus Service Sustained
A Saturday morning shoppers’ bus service between Conanby and Doncaster, proposed by the Doncaster and Rotherham Corporation Transport Departments, has been turned down by the Traffic Commissioners because of objections by the Yorkshire Traction Company and the Mexborough and Swinton Traction Company which were upheld by the Commissioners. Rotherham Corporation said the application was made following public demand.
A Sheffield firm of coach proprietors who run a holiday scheme for old age pensioners in conjunction with civic authorities, hoteliers and coach proprietors of Southsea, Torquay, Eastbourne and Weymouth, are to apply to the Traffic Commissioners to introduce a feeder service between Rotherham and Sheffield to help the old people still further as more and more people from the Conisbrough, Mexborough, Swinton, Rotherham and Doncaster areas are taking advantage of the cheap holiday scheme.
British Railways and the Doncaster and the Rotherham Corporations are to lodge an objection when the application comes before the Traffic Commissioners on April 30th.
