Prospect Very Gloomy.

Matlock Town 6 Denaby United 1

Something drastic is going to have to be done is Denaby United aren’t to finish at the bottom of the Midland League for the second successive season.

Their chances against the teams in the upper half are poor – but matches against such teams as Matlock are the ones they should be winning if they are to get away from the foot of the table.

Perhaps not worth a six goal lead, Matlock, whose League position is no great improvement on Denaby’s, were much better than Denaby. More decisive, driving into the tackle first time, every time.

Three goals down at half-time and Denaby had only had a couple of real chances, both from corners, of pulling any back.

40 min after half-time, they suffered another blow, Stasiukiewicz, after going up for a high ball, fell heavily – and stayed down, stop he was carried off with a leg injury, never came back and Harley took over the green jersey.

Matlock’s last two goals came in the final 8 minutes.
