Denaby´s Game

Ardron Scores Four

Denaby United 6 Fulwood 1

The return game between Denaby United and Fulwood provided fast and entertaining football and ended in a 6-1 victory for Denaby. The class of football at Tickhill Square nowadays in deserving much better support than it is getting. Bratley, Denaby´s right full back, did not play on Saturday, for he joined the Army on Thursday.

Fulwood had a good side, including Nevin, the former Sheffield Wednesday right back and Sidall, who formerly played in goal for Sheffield United.

But for Sidall Denaby´s score would have been higher. ARDRON did good work in the Denaby forward line, and by scoring four goals, brought his total this season to 17. He scored one from 30 yards out after Burkinshaw had cleverly worked the ball down the field. Burkinshaw played a big part in Ardron´s success.

COCKER was also outstanding and after beating four players he scored a good goal. Denaby´s last goal was scored when NEVIN put through his own goal under pressure.

Fulwood´s “orphan” goal was scored by THACKERAY, who worked the ball in the touch line, and dropped in a swerving centre that bounced past Gibson.
