Odds and Ends – Cliff Parker scores at Highbury

Odds and Ends

Interesting to see that Cliff Parker, the former Doncaster and Mexborough player featured in Portsmouth’s fine display at Highbury on Saturday scoring one of their three goals against the Arsenal. Portsmouth have lost only one match at Highbury in five seasons; it has proved in fact, a very happy hunting ground.

Parker went to Portsmouth after a period with Mexborough and 2 ½ years with Doncaster. He was at one time an outstanding member of the Mexborough district school side that did so well in the English shield and actually hails from Denaby.

The Mexborough district he referred to beat Liverpool and included Soo, a member of Stoke’s team to lose to Barnsley the other week in the English Cup.
