Young Sailor’s Death
Old Denaby Family Bereaved

The death occurred at Doncaster Royal infirmary on Monday of Petty Officer George Earnshaw (21) third son of Mr and Mrs J. Earnshaw, Red House, Old Denaby.

P.O. Earnshaw had served for three years in the Navy and was to have been demobilised early next year. He entered the infirmary seven weeks ago on the last day of a 10 day leave.

Apart from six months (from May to November) on the Isle of Sylt, off the coast of Germany, last year, Earnshaw served chiefly in Devonport, though he trained in London.

He was an old boy of Mexborough secondary school. The funeral is to take place today (Friday) following a service at Mexborough parish church.
