Owing to the Coronation

Charles Farrell, a confectioner, of Conisbrough, was summoned for being in charge of a cart without a light, at Conisbrough on 7 June.

PC Thompson stated that on Friday, 6 June, at 10:35 PM news on duty in low Road, Conisbrough, in company with PC Turner, when they came first defendant was leaning’s horse along the road towards his home.

They stopped him and asked him why had not a light on his cart, and he replied, “Well, it’s been quite a mistake. I was coming past the new schools in the Coronation subcommittee called me in and kept me an hour and ½. I am catering for the Coronation festivities.”

The defendant, who did not appear was fined 10/– including the costs.
