The clerk intimated that he had not received a reply from Mr Montagu’s agent with reference to the agreement relating to the North Cliff footpath. He was instructed to write again for the terms of the agreement.
The Clerk informed the council that the medical officer was given his attention to the complaint related to the water discolouration.
The Darlington Fencing company sent a communication withdrawing their first quotation for fencing the footpath owing to the increased cost of timber. The intimated their willingness to submit a second quotation. The subcommittee were willing to reconsider the matter. Additional fencing would be required owing to the deflection of the original footpath.
After consultation with Mr Cole and the Edlington Parish Council they would be able to decide finally.
Mrs E Greathead’s tender of £1 to supply and erect gate posts for the Drakes Head footpath was accepted.
Mr Saltonstalls tender of £14 15s was also accepted for the red oxide painting of the iron railings of the Ivanhoe Park.
Mr A Lowe and Mr H Downing declined to tender for the supply of horses for the fire engine. The matter was left for settlement to the judgement of the captain of the Fire Brigade, Mr R.J.Clarkson.
The Doncaster Rural District Council requested the Parish Council to submit their decision relative to the lighting restrictions on February 26. Councillor Booth complained that their last resolution to the District Council are been ignored – viz, the lighting of every third lamp and the dangerous crossroads. The Council had been adversely criticised when it was not their fault. He wanted to know what official notice would be given in case of Zeppelin raids?
Councillor Jones thought the public were in favour of the extinguishing of all streetlights. A resolution was passed that six lamps be lighted, namely Burcroft Hill, the Coronation lamp, Brook Square, Church Street, West Street and Dale Road.
Neighbours in the vicinity were authorised to extinguish them if a danger signal was given.
