Sheffield Evening Telegraph – Friday 29 November 1889
Parish Meeting at Conisborough.
Last night a meeting of parishioners was held at Conisborough in connection with the newly constituted Burial Board.
The Vicar presided.
The Vicar explained that it would be necessary to elect a legal clerk .for the first twelve months, and the board wished to be empowered to do so at salary of £25. This was carried.
The Vicar then observed that money was needed to meet the current expenditure and it was resolved that a penny rate be levied.
The Vicar spoke of the difficulty in getting a central burial ground, owing to water, rock and other obstacles, but an inspector would eventually come down from London to advise them on the matter.
