Party for the Anniversary.

Mr James Taylor, of 3, Fullerton Avenue, Conanby and his wife, Sarah, both 76, celebrated their Golden Wedding with a family party at the Lord Conyers hotel on Saturday.

Mr and Mrs Taylor, both Lancastrians, were married at Wigan, and apart from a few short breaks, Mr Taylor spent 50 years in the mines.

He started work at 13 at Dudler’s bank colliery, Wigan, which has since closed, at a wage of 10s 6d and when in 1926 he and his family moved to Conisbrough he went to work at Cadeby colliery. Mr Taylor, a keen football follower and Doncaster Rovers supporter, retired at 66.

He and his wife have five children, Mrs Winnifred Smith (Dudley, Worcestershire), Mr George Taylor, who lives with his parents, Mr Albert Taylor (Settle), Mrs Annie Catling (Wath), and Mrs Doreen Hodgkiss (Denaby). There are 10 grandchildren.
