Patients Waiting “Hours and Hours”?
Ambulance Delay ‘Plaint
Patients depend upon the County Ambulance Service for conveyance to and from hospital were having to wait hours without a cup of tea or food, County Coun. B. Roberts alleged at Conisbrough Urban Council meeting on Monday.
Because of these “genuine complaints” he said, the Chairman of the West Riding Public Health Committee and the County Ambulance Officer had been invited to meet Conisbrough Urban Council General Purposes committee to discuss the ambulance service in the area.
County Coun. Roberts said that the delay affected particularly patients attending Doncaster Royal Infirmary. They were having to wait “hours and hours” before being fetched by the ambulance after treatment. “We have found people are sitting hours and hours without a cup of tea or food. We are against the public being treated in this manner,” he said.
County Coun. Roberts said that when he mentioned the matter to the Assistant Clerk of the County Council, he was told that the complaints, like many others received, would probably be found to be without foundation. “I think they will find we have genuine complaints due for attention,” County Coun. Roberts commented.
