Pilfering at Conisboro’
Clarence Marshall (14), and Herbert Day (15), lamp carrier and pony-driver respectively, both of Conisboro’, appeared charged with stealing growing apples, the property of Frank Piper, on the 19th inst.
Defendants pleaded guilty.
Mrs. Piper, wife of the prosecutor, stated that they valued the stolen fruit at 1s. In getting to the apple trees they had partly trampled down four rows of potatoes, and damaged the cabbages planted between.
The Chairman informed the defendants that if they appeared again charged with a similar offence they would be sent to prison, but this time they would each be fined 10s., costs 9s. 3d., and 6d. damages.
