Pit Reorganisation

600 Miners to Receive Notices.

At Cadeby Colliery about 600 of the men employed on one shift of the Barnsley seam, will receive their notices on November 23rd.

Half of these will be thrown out of work, but the other half will be absorbed in other parts of theo Denaby and Cadeby pits before the year end, according to the present arrangements.

For the others it has been suggested that a levy be made on men at the allied pits of Cadeby, Denaby, Rossington, and Maltby, but objection was raised to this by the management. A number of meetings have been held.

As a protest the men are withholding contributions to the pit-head baths scheme. The baths, in course of construction, are almost ready and work on them will not stop.
